Underground Distribution

Planning, Construction, and Operation

DETAILS

  • Design-Engineering of radial distribution systems (cable and conduit) – including distribution automation and sectionalizing – to N-1 or N-2
  • Pad mount or indoor substation feeder sectionalizing (to include self-restoration capabilities)
  • Planning for cable route diversity (including conduit systems design)
  • Distribution class substation design (bus and breaker configuration) to include distribution feeder routes, feeder cable sizing, integrating new substation and distribution feeders into an existing distribution system, and supporting conduit systems design
  • Power flow and fault analysis
  • Preferred Reserve contingency analysis
  • Manhole design to support cable training and racking (relative to cable pulling, cable splicing, minimize manhole circuit and cable congestion, and mitigation of collateral damage)
  • Dense urban underground design, to include constructing new conduit systems in a dense urban environment with multiple existing utilities (old and new), and legacy systems such as trolley tracks and cold storage anhydrous ammonia systems
  • Cable pulling analysis
  • Steel encased directional bore design
